Kayona Ebony Brown
Kayona is an Emmy Award winning filmmaker hailing from our nation’s capital, best known for her work with sports content, most notably Super Bowl LV on CBS, which includes the pre-game feature starring Academy Award winner, Viola Davis. As the creator, she will serve as FIRST BLACK’s writer and executive producer. Brown is represented by Granderson Des Rocher.
Ellis Williams – Producer
As an Emmy Award-winner, Ellis’ career in production began at Turner Broadcasting’s Bleacher Report, a digital publisher in the sports world. Rising fast from a Production Assistant to a Producer, Ellis was able to tell multiple stories about established professional and young hopeful athletes whose stories have yet to be told. As a Producer at CBS Sports, he works on features, teases, promos and documentaries in the Creative Department.
Dr. Rob Carpenter – Producer
Dr. Rob is an author, transformational filmmaker, and CEO who now advises professional athletes, celebrities, business titans, and everyday people on how they can become the best version of themselves. Carpenter is writer-director of the upcoming documentary film American Dropout, which features members of the Kennedy Family and was supported by Colin Powell. He worked in The White House, lectured at and written for Harvard and Oxford University, and is the on-air host of the limited series, Harvard Health TV.
Kyra Jones – Writer, Producer
Kyra Jones is a black queer feminist artist, educator, and advocate whose work focuses on black women’s experiences with intimate relationships, sex, and liberation. Kyra is currently a staff writer on season 2 of Woke (Hulu) and Queens (ABC). Kyra is the co-creator and star of the award-winning web series The Right Swipe (OTV).
Alejandro “Ali” Danois – Writer
Ali is the Editor-in-Chief of The Shadow League. His features “Humble Beginnings” and “Rocky Flop” were mentioned in the Best American Sports Writing Anthology as among the country’s most notable stories of 2014 and 2015 respectively. Ali is the author of the critically acclaimed book, The Boys of Dunbar: A Story of Love, Hope and Basketball, and he served as a Producer on the ESPN Films 30-for-30 documentary, Baltimore Boys.
Terrika Foster-Brasby – Writer
Terrika brings a perspective to sports that’s real, authentic, and unique, and resonates with fans and media colleagues alike. While women’s basketball (WNBA & NCAAW) is her passion, she’s covered the NBA, NFL, MLB and NCAA Men’s Basketball. Her bylines include: espnW, ESPN’s The Undefeated, the New York Times, Fansided and Slam Magazine. However, Terrika is most notably known as one of the two voices on ESPN’s Around The Rim women’s basketball podcast, alongside acclaimed women’s basketball analyst LaChina Robinson.
